Lark Carrier FAQs
The Lark Baby Carrier fits babies weighing 10–45 lbs and wearing size 3-6m tops or larger: generally babies ages 3 months through toddlerhood.
The Lark Kid Carrier fits toddlers weighing 25–65 lbs and wearing size 3T tops or bigger: built bigger and stronger for toddlers through preschool and beyond.
Both are buckle carriers with front and back carry. See our full buckle carrier guide by baby stage →
Yes! The Lark Baby covers most kids up to age 3 and up to 45 lbs. Once your toddler is wearing 3T tops and wants more knee-to-knee support, it's time to size up to the Lark Kid Carrier! Learn more in our toddler babywearing guide →
The Lark Baby Carrier is designed for babies wearing size 3–6m tops or larger, generally around 3 months old. For smaller babies or newborns, we recommend the Sprout Newborn Carrier, Ring Sling, or Baby Wrap, all designed for smaller bodies from birth. Newborn babywearing FAQ →
Two signs it's time: your child is wearing size 3T tops, and you want more knee-to-knee support, OR (if you already own a Lark Baby) the panel sits at or below their armpits when you put them in. Weight matters less than fit! Plenty of kids stay in the Lark Baby well past 30 lbs, and some size up earlier.
Up to 65 lbs, which is a solid preschooler, but sometimes longer! Our customers regularly carry 4- and 5-year-olds in the Lark Kid on hikes, at airports, and when tired legs strike.
Yes! Machine wash cold, hang to dry. Full care instructions come with your carrier and are also on our care page.
Yes! Feel free to send us an email at hello@hopeandplum.co. We'll walk through your kid's size and your carry style to make sure you get the right size Lark the first time.
The Lark is designed to provide substantial support for your baby's bottom and thighs, which is what matters for healthy hip development. Unlike ring slings or wraps, where you actively position baby into the deep M shape, the Lark's structured panel does that work for you. As long as their bottom is supported and their legs aren't dangling, their hips are well-positioned.
The IHDI stopped accepting product submissions for certification before the Lark Baby Carrier was developed, so it has not been formally certified.
