How do I know for sure my baby has outgrown the Sprout?
Watch for three things: baby crosses 24 lbs, the carrier panel no longer reaches from their bottom to their armpits, or they're already wearing 3–6 month clothes for length. Any one of those means it's time to size up to the Lark baby carrier.
What's actually different between the Sprout and the Lark?
The Sprout is a smaller, front-carry-only panel with padding just in the waistband, built to safely support a newborn's tiny frame. The Lark has a taller 17" panel, full padding through the panel and straps, and adds back carry for babies 10–45 lbs. Both use the same hip-healthy, wide cross-back strap design.
Could I have skipped the Sprout and just started with the Lark?
If your baby was already over 3 months, at least 10 lbs, and in 3–6 month clothes for length when you started babywearing, yes. The Lark isn't only for older babies, it just doesn't fit newborns as snugly as the Sprout does.
